Sunil Bajpai Appointed as Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry 

Sunil Bajpayee assumes the role of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for the states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on 10 April 2026. This appointment of Sunil Bajpai, a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service, has been made in view of his long experience in the Income Tax Department. After performing various responsibilities in the department for years, he has been given this new responsibility by promotion.

Sunil Bajpai also has a strong educational background, which reflects his technical and administrative experience.

This educational experience further strengthens their professional skills.

Sunil Bajpai held many important positions during his career in the Indian Revenue Service. He was the additional director of income tax in the Directorate of Systems. Apart from this, he took the responsibility of principal and additional director general in the NADT regional campus, Lucknow. He also served as Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-5, Mumbai. While holding these positions, he gained work experience at both administrative and technical levels.

He has also played a role in government and strategic institutions. He worked as a joint assessor & collector in the municipal corporation of Delhi. Along with this, he has also been a director in the National Security Council Secretariat. During these responsibilities, he gained extensive experience working in various government bodies.
In this way, 1990 batch IRS officer Sunil Bajpai, after long administrative and educational experience, has taken up the new responsibility as Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on 10 April 2026.
