RBI Releases Guidelines to Facilitate Faster Cross-Border Inward Payments

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a circular dated April 09, 2026, notifying guidelines to facilitate faster cross-border inward payments.

In relation to this subject, the RBI had previously issued a draft circular dated October 29, 2025, and thereafter opened a window seeking feedback from stakeholders on it.

After closing the window, each piece of feedback received was deeply examined; accordingly, required changes were introduced to the draft version. Thereafter, the final version has been introduced. Statement on the major feedback received on the draft circular is provided in the Annex.

The key objective of this circular is to solve issues in receiving money from abroad by ensuring that payment details are shared quickly and the funds are credited to the recipient’s account without delay.
