New 2026 Guidance Note on Bank Audits by ICAI: What Auditors Should Know
The Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released the 2026 edition of its “Guidance Note on Audit of Banks”.
This updated publication is issued annually to help auditors carry out the statutory audit of banks and their branches more effectively.
The revised 2026 edition acts as a reference for auditors, helping them understand what to check, how to check it, and how to follow current rules while auditing banks.
This guidance note on the audit of banks, 2026 edition, is divided into six parts, starting from the foreword and preface of past years, appendices of the guidance note, master circulars, FAQs, general circulars, and more. It provides clear and practical guidance on the statutory audit of banks and bank branches.
